Laurence and Huw from Alpine Odyssey Make it to Te Whanganui a Tara Wellington

Almost six weeks into their ambitious Alpine Odyssey trip, Laurence Mote and Huw Kingston have just rolled into Te Whanganui a Tara Wellington after an incredible ride from Cape Reinga. Along the way, he and Huw have ticked off a series of ski field visits, including Snow Planet, Whakapapa, Turoa, Tukino, and Maunganui on Mt Taranaki. They only have 20 to go!

If you missed the first update, the Alpine Odyssey is Laurence and Huw's mission to link every ski field in New Zealand by bike, riding from one to the next and skiing as many slopes as possible along the way.

Now in New Zealand's capital, Laurence and Huw are taking a short breather before pushing on south. While they’re here, you can catch them for a Q&A session at MyRide Wellington at 5:30 pm on Friday, August 1st. It’s the perfect chance to hear firsthand about their journey so far and what’s still to come.

You can follow their progress in real time, check out the live map, and learn how to donate at huwkingston.com/alpine-odyssey-aotearoa. Funds raised from the trip will be donated to Save the Children to help raise $75,000 for Vanuatu’s first climate-resilient shipping container classroom. This will ensure that, regardless of the climate challenge, children can still access education.

Stay tuned as Laurence and his Kona Unit continue their mission to link Aotearoa’s ski fields by bike while making a meaningful difference along the way.
