Kona Dream Builds: Zach's Do Everything Unit

Some bikes are built for a purpose. Some bikes are built to win arguments. Zach from Cycling Elements Unit X was built to do everything. The foundation is a Kona Unit X frameset in XL. The kind of frame that does not complain when the plan changes halfway through the day. And this bike changes plans often. School drop-offs. Coffee runs. Errands across town. Gravel detours that turn into long way homes. Singletrack when the legs feel good. It is a true grab-and-go machine.

The Heart of Zachs build is this Kona Unit X in XL. Reynolds steel tubing that feels alive on trail but steady under load.

Velocity Blunt SS 32h rims are laced to a Hope Pro 5 rear hub and a SON 28 dynamo front hub.

The SON 28 drives a Supernova M99 DY Pro front light and a Supernova TL3 intergated seatpost clamp and light.

The drivetrain comprises of a set of Hope EVO 170 mm cranks with a 34t Hope R22 chainring mated to a Wolftooth 16t stainless cog out back via a KMC X12 chain.

The bike also features a fair share of Chris King Bling in the form of a InSet 7 headset and ThreadFit 30 bottom bracket in matte mango.

The cockpit is rocking a Surly Sunrise steel bar clamped by a 50 mm Hope TR stem.

Braking Power Avid Speed Dial Ultimate levers paired with BB7-S mechanical brakes. Simple, reliable, easy to service anywhere.

Trail capability is taken care off with the addition of a PNW Loam 150 mm dropper and Loam lever because even a do-everything bike should be fun when the trail points down.
