Kona Dream Builds: Adam's Hand-me-down Unit X

Meet Adam Wilkoszarski’s Unit X. Originally built and ridden hard by Adam’s brother on a trip across Southeast Asia, this Unit X came back with stories… and a fair bit of wear. After sitting untouched for two years, it found a second life. And this time, it wasn’t going back to stock. Adam took the frame and built it into something else entirely. This is not your average hand-me-down.

A 2022 Kona Unit X built from Reynolds 520 butted chromoly. Paired with the Kona Plus fork, keeping things simple, strong, and ready for anything.

SRAM SX Eagle handles shifting duties with an 11–50T cassette and a waxed KMC chain. Up front, an Evosid 38T chainring keeps it fast and efficient. SRAM SX Eagle cranks spin through a DUB 73mm bottom bracket. Xpedo M8 Ti pedals keep it light and locked in.

Hope X2 brakes bring reliable stopping power. SRAM Centerline rotors keep things consistent on long descents.

A Soma Dream Bar changes the ride feel completely. Paired with a Nitto UI-25 EX stem for a clean, purposeful setup.

A Fox Transfer dropper keeps things adaptable on the trail. Finished with a Wolf Tooth clamp and Kink BMX grips up front for control.

Custom-built wheels using Tune Prince and Princess hubs. Laced to Duke Racing World Runner X25 rims with DT Swiss Revolite straight-pull spokes. The whole thing rolls onVittoria Mezcal 29 x 2.6” tires.
